Master Chad Smith inducted into USAKF Hall of Fame
Master Chad Smith of ShoGoTae Academy, Kokoro Martial Arts Academy, Temple Academy, Just Kick It Karate, and USGKA (United Shorei Ryu and Goju Ryu Karate Association) was inducted this spring into the USA Karate Federation Hall of Fame in recognition of his efforts in competition, and his contributions to the martial arts. We here at the Peter Claver Center extend our heartiest congratulations to Master Smith on this wonderful achievment.

Makiwara
A Makiwara is a board typically about 7 feet long, stuck in the ground or bolted to the floor and wrapped with rope. The Purpose of the Makiwara is that it be used as a target for various punches, strikes conditioning the strikes surface of the body. A Makiwara can also be a punching bag; it is used to practice strikes and kicks, improving the Karate-Ka's timing, speed, endurance, and stamina.
